Originally called: Diddle, this is our marathon song.
BACKSTORY: When our piano/trumpet player Gillian was asked to join the band, she said it was fine as long as she didn't have to solo. This was all in fine, except I wanted her to solo so I had to think of a friendlier term. In my head I thought a musical doodle...diddle? Not really thinking, I told her, "sure, no soloing, just diddling." Then I realized what diddle meant and we had to change the name.
This is one of the first tunes I ever actually wrote. It talks about how I felt like it all went downhill through the end of high school/into college and how I didn't mean to be cruel. I was self absorbed and didn't know how to deal with anything. (Typical high school girl) It does have a hopeful vibe pleading that one day, when we're good and grown, I'll be forgiven.

lyrics
We were golden leaves on an autumn tree
and when we fell, we danced to this melody
and then we blew through the mountains on a dream
and now we're headin' out to sea
(Violin solo)
And we'll wake up all the dreamers, who've forgotten how to dream
and they'll join us in the sky
we're off to a no man's land, please darling take my hand
and there's still a long way to go
still a long way to go
I shook hands with father time
and he taught me how to rhyme
and sing with all my heart
life and I, we can be cruel
to make you feel like such a fool
left in broken parts
and I can only hope that you will be forgiving
and see the changes that I have become
and I will only hope that you will be forgiving
and see the changes that I have become
Run with me
And we'll wake up all the dreamers, who've forgotten how to dream
and they'll join us in the sky
we're off to a no man's land, please darling take my hand
and there's still a long way to go
still a long way to go
(Sax Solo)
and the winds are rough when the storms they come and they tear through the trees
and they blow us away from everything we need
and I hope someday you will find a way,
back to our home
and we shall be released
Run with me
And we'll wake up all the dreamers, who've forgotten how to dream
and they'll join us in the sky
we're off to a no man's land, please darling take my hand
and there's still a long way to go
still a long way to go
